I think we all agree, that traditionally the building industry has been MALE dominated. But The Master Builders initiative – ‘Women Building Australia’ is slowly but surely changing that! Today we are going to showcase three outstanding women in the construction industry. You see the MBA is dedicated to mentoring and encouraging women to embrace the building and construction industry. It is changing the game, seeing women moving into many roles, looking to develop a career.
So it was, that this year the very first ‘Women in Building Australia Awards’ were held at Crown. Nominees who entered were judged in the following categories;
- Consultants and Professionals, those that provide services for architects, engineers, lawyers and building surveyors etc.
- Office based roles such as estimating, project management, scheduling, administration management, sales and contracts.
- And women that are working On-site; as tradespersons, safety managers, site managers, supervisors and more.
The judges reviewed written submissions that answered questions like; Explaining their journey, their achievements, how they felt they contribute to the industry. Their commitment to high standards, further learning and how they personally strive for excellence and how this has been recognised by their peers.
Hans spoke to all winners who shared their stories and why they were thrilled to have been acknowledged. Take a look at the video on this page.
From the MBA’s perspective it is great to see more and more women are breaking the mould and thriving in construction.
So, no matter what your age, consider a rewarding career in the building and construction industry. It can be so very rewarding. So, there you have it;
