A garden full off beautiful roses like these will be a joy to behold later in spring by just following these simple steps. With a little bit of pruning and a balanced fertiliser your garden can be blooming marvellous too.
Bush roses like Hybrid Tea’s and floribunda roses can be easily pruned by first removing around a third off the top and sides and then by removing any spindly or crossing branches along with any dead, diseased or damaged wood. The roses should be pruned into a vase shape with around 3-5 strong shoots forming a framework of branches. Remove any paler coloured suckers from below the graft by pulling down sharply and shorten the remaining top growth to between 30 to 60cm.
The key to great looking roses is regular feeding and roses respond best to monthly applications of a balanced food from spring through to winter.
