We love partnering with the UDIA of WA because each week they share with us the extraordinary new developments happening around our state. But it’s not just about the bricks and mortar – these days it’s all about supporting innovative, smart, and sustainable urban development.
OneOneFive Hamilton Hill by DevelopmentWA is one of these fantastic projects and it’s a leader in both sustainability and innovation. It has received a 6-leaf rating under UDIA WA’s EnviroDevelopment program.
You can identify an EnviroDevelopment by the ED logo featuring six leaves representing each element that a project can be certified under including ecosystems, waste, energy, materials, water, and community
Located on the former Hamilton Senior High School site this project is a great example of how proactive the development industry is becoming in relation to sustainable action on the ground.
It is not just about being green, there are a range of different homes on the way as well as a strong connection to the area’s history and a focus on community.
The project is expecting to deliver 330 new dwellings, including a range of options, to house some 800 residents, and some of the sustainable features include 86% of materials from demolition of the school being reused onsite, one third of the trees being retained, and 350 new trees to be planted. When complete, all homes will achieve a minimum of 7.5 star energy rating.
OneOneFive Hamilton Hill is also encouraging the build of timber-frame homes, and have design guidelines in place to make sure good solar access and cross ventilation are there to provide smart homes with reduced energy needs.
Sustainable living is critical to the future of our homes, our city, and our country. The UDIA of WA are championing not just good development in our state but smart and innovative development that will take care of our environment for years to come.
