University campuses have always been hives of activity but today the best unis are so much more than just places to go to class. They’re centralised communities where people come to live, work, play, learn, and build a life. And at the forefront of this change is the absolutely stunning community hub emerging at Curtin University.
UDIA represents the development industry in Western Australia and they are proud to showcase the fantastic communities that the industry creates. Curtin Exchange is a great example of this work.
Curtin Exchange is just the first stage of the grandly-titled “Greater Curtin Master Plan”.
Attracting students from interstate and overseas is an important part of growing WA’s economy, and projects like Curtin Exchange that provide world class facilities will help with that aim.
The mixed-use, urban heart that is Curtin Exchange will be a bridge between education and industry, which will make the sharing of ideas and knowledge a whole lot stronger.
The project is just 6km from the Perth CBD and is home to two student accommodation buildings, a hotel, residential apartments, School of Design & the Built Environment, commercial space, recreational areas and the Curtin Central bus interchange.
The precinct is dispersed with 15 retail spaces, predominantly food & beverage, and the first retailer to open is Tucker Fresh IGA.
This impressive project has also been nominated in the UDIA WA’s Awards for Excellence program in the ENVIRONMENTAL EXCELLENCE category because of the carbon reduction measures, sustainable water management, protection of greenspace, and alternative modes of transport.
Perth is changing rapidly and the UDIA of WA are championing the best of development in our state. If you’re in the area then have a look at what’s happening at Curtin University, or jump onto udiawa.com.au to see what other exciting developments are happening in WA.
