This is the B17 Adara project, a multi-unit residential apartment right here in Success just south of Perth. B17 Adara is the winner of the 2015 Master Builders Excellence in Waste Management Award, assisted by its use of modular construction to help prevent excess waste. This modular method also presents an effective, affordable and innovative alternative for Perth’s higher density future housing market.
This year, Goodland Building Company took out the award for waste management at the Master Builders-Bankwest Excellence in Construction Awards. And this entire apartment project only took 12 months to complete, from site possession to market. By using modular construction, Goodland was able to order and manufacture the exact quantities, sizes and types of material without waste or off cuts. Some other recycling and environmentally friendly methods used for this construction have been such things as using materials that have been sourced locally to reduce transport pollution. Using native water wise plants, and even using the orientation of the structure for gaining the most for “natural” heating and cooling purposes. Achieving a 30% better thermal performance.
